Research and innovation in sport, health and technology

Technology

Technology

«Measure what is measurable and make what is not measurable” Galileo Galilei.

Making human movement in outdoor sports measurable with high accuracy is a task that we at the Center of Alpine Sports Biomechanics have dedicated ourselves to. In collaboration with the sports technology industry, we develop and validate sensors and analysis tools to make outdoor sports measurable with high accuracy.

Sport

We use the new possibilities of sports technology to answer specific questions from the world of sport using scientific methods. For example, we use new technologies to build sports facilities such as ski jumps in snow parks in a safer, more cost-effective and more environmentally friendly way. Or we use new technologies to determine the influence of technical and tactical strategies of ski jumpers on their jumping distance. Our aim is to benefit sport by taking up research questions from sport, developing measurement and analysis techniques for the specific issues of sport and answering relevant questions.

Building bridges between sport - technology - science

Never before have so many people in Switzerland been as physically active as they are today. The sports technology sector is one of the fastest growing markets. The Center of Alpine Sports Biomechanics sees itself as a bridge builder between sport, industry and science. We want to contribute to the development of sensors and analyses that meet the needs and requirements of sport, and we want to help sport learn how to use the new technological possibilities sensibly and sustainably.
