The Alpine Health & Innovation Foundation (AHIF) aims to promote research, innovation and value creation in sport, health and technology. In particular, it intends to initiate institutional and project-related plans and to realize these independently or in cooperation with third parties. The foundation was established in 2012 and renamed from “Engadin” to “Alpine” Health & Innovation Foundation (AHIF) in 2025.

The Center of Alpine Sports Biomechanics (CASB) adapts and develops technology to make human movement in sport measurable. The new technological possibilities are used in sport to reduce the risk of injury, optimize performance and make sport more understandable for spectators.

CASB works in close cooperation with international federations (e.g. International Olympic Committee (IOC), International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), national organizations (e.g. Swiss Council for Accident Prevention (BFU)) and academic partners (e.g. Balgrist University Hospital, ETH, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, WSL - Snow and Avalanche Research Institute SLF) on the optimization of snow sports facilities and with industrial partners on the development of technology for tracking human movement.

Medical altitude research for medium altitudes is to be established as a further research pillar. From the perspective of the Alpine Health & Innovation Foundation (AHIF), the Upper Engadin is predestined for the establishment of a clinically oriented research institute for several reasons.
